The Palestinian- Swedish, Ali Khalil, was born and raised in one of the suburbs of Stockholm in 1992 to Palestinian parents from the town of Saffuriya in the Nazareth district in the occupied Palestine. He was deeply affected by the challenges of integration he observed when newcomers arrived in Sweden, unable to find employment opportunities that matched their skills and qualifications. He became interested in this issue at a young age. His childhood was filled with curiosity, observation, empathy for others, and a desire to make a difference in his community and the world.
Early Beginnings:
After completing his high school education, Ali Khalil couldn’t isolate himself from the issues surrounding him. The most pressing concern for him and his friends, Saleh Karrani from Eritrea and Shafik Muwanga from Uganda, was the situation of newcomers who continued to struggle. They noticed a real problem, one that their own families had faced when they first arrived in Europe: qualified individuals not getting job opportunities. From this problem, they conceived the idea of founding a company to help newcomers and foreigners find suitable employment opportunities that matched their skills and abilities. In 2012, they established Miljonbemanning, a company specializing in finding the right talent for businesses in Sweden from among newcomers and assisting them in overcoming language barriers.

Determination to success:
“From Nine Dollars to Tens of Millions: Ali and the Journey of Miljonbemanning”
The three ambitious young men, Ali, Saleh, and Shafiq, had nothing more than their desire to change the lives of many. They pooled together what little they had as students who had just completed their secondary education. Each of them contributed the equivalent of three dollars to the table, deciding to launch a nine-dollar venture called “Miljonbemanning” in 2012. They had deep faith that this venture would change the lives of thousands, if not tens of thousands, of families and newcomers who had arrived for various reasons, with war being one of the most prominent. Ali says, “We began with only nine dollars, and after ten years, we have an annual income of over ten million dollars. This serves as proof that our conviction in the abilities and skills of newcomers to enter the workforce, benefit the Swedish community, and bring about positive changes in their surroundings was indeed accurate.”
Learning by Doing: Ali’s Journey of Determination and Skill Acquisition:
Ali says, “We didn’t have the experience and skills necessary to start a business at such a young age, but we had enough awareness that the success of this project required dedication, hard work, continuous research, and learning. We embarked on a journey of seeking the necessary information to establish a business from scratch, relying on the internet search and asking questions to anyone with expertise in various fields. In this phase, we operated with the mindset that we were in a learning stage. We knocked on many doors and asked numerous questions, and while this didn’t prevent us from encountering pitfalls and making mistakes, these mistakes only fueled our determination and added valuable skills and knowledge to our journey, eventually accumulating into a substantial and qualitative experience.”
The Pivotal First Years: Overcoming Challenges to Empower Newcomers:
The first three years were the most challenging in establishing Miljonbemanning, according to Ali. He says, “We were trying to find companies to work with, and we faced more rejections than acceptances. The first three years were the real challenge, during this period we considered closing the company nearly ten times. Each time, our motivation to continue came from the feeling that there were no equal employment opportunities and that thousands of people needed assistance. That’s why we had a strong desire and determination to change this situation. What further motivated me to persist in this project was that I worked in a restaurant at that time, and one of my colleagues at the restaurant was an Eritrean doctor with 11 years of experience in his home country, fully qualified to enter the operating room. However, his lack of proficiency in the Swedish language was a barrier to him getting a suitable job opportunity.”
Turning Point and Ascent:
“From Chance Encounter to Entrepreneurial Success: The Miljonbemanning Breakthrough”
Ali, Saleh, and Shafiq used to frequent a sports salon that opened its doors in the evenings. One day, a Swedish businessman interested in creating sports facilities that would be open in the evenings crossed paths with them. The young entrepreneurs did not hesitate to present their idea to him with passion and determination. A dialogue ensued, and he connected them directly with the CEO of one of his companies, which amounted to around thirty companies. He asked them to meet and collaborate with them, believing in them and their idea, as he needed a continuous recruitment of talents for his companies and businesses. Ali said that they tried to reach this company several times in the past without success. However, their continuous efforts and determination eventually brought them the opportunity, and they contracted with the company, providing services worth the equivalent of five million Swedish Krona at that time.
Navigating Challenges to Achieve Success:
No journey to success is without its fair share of obstacles, and Ali Khalil and his friends encountered numerous challenges along their path. Nevertheless, their unwavering belief in their idea and their deep desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives motivated them to confront and overcome these hurdles. Ali says, When we embarked on this journey, we faced a significant lack of experience. We had just completed high school, and we were in need of essential administrative and financial skills. Moreover, our knowledge of Swedish laws was limited. The initial stages of any project are undeniably the most demanding. We had no prior clients, no established work models to follow, and to add to the complexity, we were foreigners with no established connections in the country.”
Continuous Growth:
Miljonbemanning’s Inspirational Journey: From Humble Beginnings to International Impact”
Over the years, the company achieved significant success both locally and internationally. The company’s headquarters in Stockholm now employs approximately eighty employees. Ali, Saleh, and Shafiq, the sole owners of Miljonbemanning, resisted the temptation of numerous investors wanting to join them. They chose to continue with their own resources to inspire young people and the next generation, showing that it is possible for young individuals from humble backgrounds with limited capital to embark on large, successful, and impactful projects. Ali says, “In the beginning, we tried hard to find one company to adopt our services, and today we have recently contracted with a Swedish company that requires 100 engineers monthly to work in the field of electric car production, which is booming in Sweden and the world. To meet the needs of this company and others, we expanded our scope of work. We started signing partnerships with many European companies, the latest being in Amsterdam.”
Future Goals and Innovative Plans:
Revolutionizing Employment with Artificial Intelligence: Ali’s Vision for the Future”.
From limited experience to the optimal use of all available resources in artificial intelligence, the company is working on producing a specialized electronic platform. This platform will allow job seekers from anywhere in the world to register their data within it. Companies and different employers will be able to add their employee needs. The artificial intelligence in the platform will then match the company’s needs with each applicant’s qualifications. It will also contribute to developing the necessary skills for the applicants and assist them in their development. Ali says, “We have been working on the smart platform for a long time, aiming to employ technology and artificial intelligence to accomplish the work that has expanded significantly. We are confident that once the platform is launched, hundreds of thousands of companies and individuals will join it. We are working on including more companies in other European countries, such as Amsterdam. We aspire to open up the world for qualified individuals and facilitate their access to opportunities, whether in Europe, the Arabian Gulf, the Middle East, East Asia, or anywhere in the world.”
